Neotel NeoFlex not uncapped

Posted by Gerhard under Telecoms

Neotel neoFlexNeotel has not officialy launched their NeoFlex service with a press release, but arcording to sources you can simply dial 0860636832 and they will give you the prices for the packages.

For all of you that was waiting for a uncapped option I’m sorry to say that there currently isn’t one, but hopefully by July they might bring out an uncapped package.

The following packages is available:

  1. 10Gig Package @ R599pm
  2. 15Gig Package @ R799pm

Ontop of that you must either sign a 24month contract and then add R100 to your monthly premium for the ethernet device or you can buy the device for a once-off cost of R2000.

The packages is data only packages and once customers reach their data cap, Neotel’s out of bundle rates are charged at a nominal fee of 8 cents per Megabyte.

Im actualy a bit disapointed at the prices, as I expected larger caps or even a uncapped option. If you opt for the 10gb package you pay just under the R60 per Gig and on the 15gb package you pay about R54 per Gig, these prices realy dont give much competition but it still beat if you take in account that you have to pay line rental on normal ADSL lines.

[EDIT]

More details available on the Neotel Website

Kalahari.net Crazy Gaming SpecialKalahari.net has gone crazy with the prices on some of their games. The local online store has cut prices to some of their games to almost 70% off.

Titles such as Race Driver GRID was R400 and is now available for only R90 for the pc version. Even the XBOX version is marked down from R700 to R190.

So who said that buying orginal games can be expensive, go check out Kalahari.net for all the titles available.

Many consumers have been waiting for this day for a while now, and looks like it has finally arived. This will be the first data-only offering from Neotel with the company’s first ethernet based router.

MyBroadband had the privilage to do eary testing of the service and reported that it did well rivaling Telkom’s ADSL service.

The product aimed at the residential market has theoretical downlink speeds of up to 3.1 Mbps and uplink speeds in excess of 1 Mbps, this is all dependant where in the coverage area you lie and how good your signal is.

Sony Bravia T Series

Posted by Gerhard under Hardware

After the long year of hard work in 2008 I just got back from a well deserved vacation and thought I’d treat myself to a long awaited LCD TV.

After allot of considration and research I decided to go with the Sony Bravia T Series. I originaly wanted a 42″ display but after viewing the 32″ I could see that a 42″ would be a overkill, well in my living room it would have been.

The model I got was the KLV-32T400A which boasts the Bravia2 Engine that delivers nice crisp sharp vivid colours, aswell as MPEG Noise Reductions that reduces block noise and improving the edges of characters while at the same time supressing background picture noise.

The display also includes a built in FM radio and built in aplifier to improve analog signals. Although it is only a HD Ready screen it can handle 1080p by downscaling it and after several tests with my XBOX it sure did deliver better quality setting it to 1080p rather than 720p.

The display has 1 HDMI, 1 component, 2 composite and 1 PC input. I must still test out the PC input to see what the quality is like, but sovar I realy impressed with the display and would recommend it to anybody.
